(NB Please note, if you require a pelvic examination, which may include a Digital Vaginal Examination (DVE), this will be fully discussed and explained to you beforehand. It is important to know, that you do not have to have this examination if you do not wish. Please also note, as the visitis are carried out wihtin your home, there will not be an option of having a chaperone. Again, this will be fully discussed with you beforehand).

We most commonly treat post-operative abdominal scars, however, for any problematic scar that is causing tightness, pain, or functional issues, please get in touch. This can be immediately post-op or many years later. It is never too late to be seen for your scar, especially if it is causing you discomfort.

A multi-dimensional approach will be used for scar therapy, including manual techniques and massage to the scar and surrounding area (if appropriate). Targeted exercise, breathwork, acupuncture, dynamic cupping, scar oils, and dietary and postural advice will all be available and discussed as options for scar therapy, if clinically indicated.

The outcomes of scar therapy can be hugely successful. Depending on the age, stage, and type of scar, it can take time. The success of scar therapy on tightness, pain and function is also dependent on you following the advice and exercises prescribed in between sessions.

Telehealth Consultations

The Womens Physio can also help those of you who do not live in Edinburgh! We can provide you with an assessment and diagnosis, education, and training, along with a treatment plan, either via video or by telephone. This treatment plan may include exercise prescription, self-management advice and certain treatment methods that can be taught for you to do at home.

Pricing & Packages

The Womens Physio pricing is completely transparent. All sessions are strictly 60 minutes. Depending on what is clinically indicated following your assessment, there are a wide variety of treatment options available to you, all of which are included in the price of the session. There will be no “add-on” costs for things like acupuncture or scar-specific treatments.

(NB Travel charges may apply if out with certain Edinburgh postcodes, and parking charges will apply for parking that exceeds £5 per hour. If applicable, these shall be discussed with you prior to your appointment).

Any of the above appointment options can be purchased as a gift.
